John O’Leary – DTM

I joined Toastmasters in 2008 after being an MC at my best friend’s daughter’s wedding. I needed more confidence to do presentations which I was doing more and more of.

Since then I have had numerous roles in Albany Toastmasters and other clubs I belong to culminating in becoming Presidents Distinguished Division F Governor 2013/14. I enjoy the role of Mentoring and Coaching and in helping Members to grow their Confidence and watch them become better Speakers and Leaders that are the future of New Zealand.

I was the first District Sergeant At Arms for District 72 in 2014/15 and in 2018 I became the first District – Logistics Manager 2018/19 for our new District 112 and now in my second year 2019/20. It’s a low profile position but essential to the smooth working / running of Districts various training sessions, workshops and conventions.

My other roles to date have included Club President 4 times, Division Governor, and on various clubs executive committees.
